One of the Most Popular Games Quake Comes Back

The new version of the title was released almost 2 months after June 22, the 25th anniversary of the original version. Be ready for numerous updates, new high-quality graphics, and lots of other exciting features. Fans of the title are excited about the novelties of the game.

Bethesda Softworks and id Software made an announcement of the new version of the legendary Quake game. Moreover, it will feature two expansion packs. The expansions were available on the classic version as well - The Scourge of Armagon and Dissolution of Eternity. A new version of Quake with quality graphics is available for the bulk of modern platforms. The game was presented on QuakeCon 2021. It looks fantastic mixing features of the modern graphics and old-school textures.

Players can download additional maps for Quake. Cooperative mode is available locally and via the Internet with up to 4 players. A story mode is available as well. It includes original add-ons, as well as several new ones. New content is developed by the MachineGames studio, famous for their successful games Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.

Besides, the title includes some cut content including the lost beginning section of the E2M6 level (The Dismal Oubliette). The expansion of the E2M6 start area had to be excluded due to the size of BSP files - back in those days, the developers made a decision to limit the weight of maps to not bigger than 1.4 MB. Nevertheless, now it’s not a problem. Players will appear in the cave and check out all the content which had to be before the original The Dismal Oubliette. It’s going to be extremely interesting, especially to old-school fans of the series.

The new edition of Quake is out for PC, Xbox One (included with Xbox Game Pass), PS4, and Nintendo Switch, as well as backward compatibility on Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5. The project looks pretty successful as well as the majority of fans are pleased. As with any other major release, it’s followed by tons of rumors. Does it mean there will be more new content for the game soon? Will see soon.

It was reported that free updates for the title will be released a little later. They will be related to some mechanical updates. In this way, owners of the latest Xbox and PlayStation consoles will be able to try such features as 4K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and many others. Another exciting news, all customers who previously bought Quake on such distribution services as Steam or Bethesda.net will get the new edition free of charge.
