Look, Thedas is a mess. Dragons, darkspawn, political intrigue – it's enough to make even the most hardened Warden reach for the nearest bottle of Antivan brandy. But you? You're a Veilguard. You're better than that. You're here to win. This guide isn't about just scraping by; it's about achieving the legendary "The Ones That Last" ending, where everyone (almost) makes it out alive. Consider this your unofficial cheat sheet to conquering Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Faction strength is the currency of power in Thedas. You need all six factions at max strength (3200 points/three stars each). How? Grind those faction quests like your life depends on it (because it kind of does). Loot everything that isn't nailed down and sell it to the faction merchants. Pro-tip: Faction-preferred items are worth five times more! Think of it as strategic gift-giving. Keep an eye on your overall Allied Strength; it's your safety net in crucial moments.
A Warden's Best Friend is a gut punch. Minrathous or Treviso? Choose Minrathous. Losing it cripples your chances of maxing out the Shadow Dragons, and we can't have that. Sacrificing Treviso stings (especially if you're sweet on Lucanis), but the Antivan Crows are scrappy survivors; they’ll recover. Minimize the damage by maxing out their strength before you make the call.
Your companions? They're your secret weapons. Treat them right. Complete all companion quests, choose perks that complement your playstyle, and deck them out in the finest armor Thedas has to offer. "Hero of the Veilguard" status isn't just a fancy title; it's a life insurance policy.
In Regrets of the Dread Wolf, diplomacy is your friend. Convince Mythal to share her essence, not her daggers. This unlocks "Clear Minds and Open Hearts" and grants you Mythal's Favor – both essential for the perfect ending. Sadly, a sacrifice must be made. Choose Davrin. Harding's tactical mind is too valuable to lose.
The Last Gambit is where everything comes together. Deploy your forces strategically: Emmrich (or Taash) for the Veil Jumpers, Lucanis (or the Antivan Crows/Emmrich) for Shadow Dragons/Lords of Fortune, Harding (or Taash) for Grey Wardens/Mourn Watch. Leave Taash guarding the Divine's Manor. It's more important than it sounds.
Bring Neve and Harding to the final showdown with Elgar'nan. Neve's magic and Harding's tactical brilliance are your keys to victory.
Elgar'nan is down, Bellara is back, and "The Ones That Last" has popped. You've conquered Thedas, saved your friends, and cemented your legacy as a true Veilguard badass. Go ahead, take a bow. You've earned it. Now go tell everyone how you single-handedly saved the world (mostly).
