Mortal Kombat 11 Won't Be Updated with New Content

According to the latest updates provided by NetherRealm on their official Twitter account, the company doesn’t plan to develop new content for their MK 11. A lot of fans are embarrassed as from the release of the game in 2019, the company regularly updated the title with a lot of great features.

Mortal Kombat 11 is undeniably one of the most successful games released by NetherRealm. For today, the company sold more than 8 million copies of the title. Furthermore, it was acclaimed by the critics as the best game of the whole franchise. The fans of the game expected that it would be supported for many years like other games of a similar genre as Tekken and so forth.

Nevertheless, the company stated that it will focus on a new unannounced title and there won’t be any updates for Mortal Kombat 11 soon. DLCs and additional content significantly expanded the game. In this way, more than half of the current roster was added after the release of the game. Players were pleased by the appearance of the crossover characters including Joker, Terminator, and many others. Also, updates expanded the single-player story mode as well as brought some new stages and skins.

According to the announcement, there won’t be any new DLC content. However, it doesn’t mean that the studio won’t improve the balance of the game, fix bugs, and work on its performance. Although the company doesn’t plan to add something new to the title now, it may change in the future. A lot of Mortal Kombat fans waited for numerous characters who didn’t appear in the game.

There are no announcements about a new game developed by NetherRealm. However, the Internet is full of different rumors and guesses. The most popular and probable ones suppose that the company works on a new superhero fighting. It may be a sequel to Injustice 2 or something new related to the Marvel Universe.

A creative director of the company Ed Boon stated on his Twitter that he is interested in developing a fighting game with Marvel heroes. Of course, the message from Twitter can’t be considered an official announcement. Nevertheless, there were some times when Boon spoke about his future games writing a similar post on the social webs.

The new project is going to be big and promising as NetherRealm decided to stop supporting one of their main games. Also, it is already actively developed. According to the job listing that was posted not long ago, the studio is searching for a new Software Engineer.
