GoldenEye 007 Is Not Banned In Germany Anymore

After almost 25 years, players from Germany can finally play some banned games including GoldenEye 007, Blood Rayne 1 & 2. Finally, the ban on violent games has been lifted that provoked a lot of rumors and suggestions related to the possible remake of the classic title.

GoldenEye 007 is a shooting game that was released for Nintendo 64 way back in 1997. GoldenEye 007 is one of the most popular games of the 90s. In 1997, the acclaimed first-person shooter Goldeneye 007 was released for Nintendo 64 in major parts of the world. However, not in Germany who judged that the game was too violent.

The famous Nintendo 64 game has historically been one of the most illustrious victims of the infamous German video game censorship, which has cut a large number of titles out of the market in the country in question in the past due to the stringent law defending young audiences. which basically prohibited any game with violent elements from being distributed in Germany. The question can lead to some paradoxical situations, as we have seen for Dying Light on Nintendo Switch which disappeared from Nintendo eShop as the original was not distributed in

Germany for the well-known law in question. The ban would actually have disappeared automatically after 25 years, but the fact that it has happened before has led fans to start speculating that the game may be on its way to the Nintendo

Switch. Despite the game being developed back in 1997, it is considered one of the best-developed titles ever. The other titles that also were on the

ban list for a long time are the famous Blood Rayne and its sequel. It was

confirmed that the remastered versions of the games will be released on

November 18. There are a lot of rumors about the development of the new

GoldenEye 007 version for the Nintendo Switch. It is unclear whether there are plans for a re-release of the classic game. Some fans are already dreaming that Nintendo could make the title available as part of its new premium subscription with the awkward name of “Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Package”. This subscription allows owners of the Switch console to play selected Nintendo 64 titles. These titles include, for example, "Super Mario 64" and

"The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time". Nintendo has not yet announced the inclusion of "GoldenEye 007" in that package, so it’s not clear whether it would be as a standalone title.

Not long ago the game was recreated in Far Cry 5 by the enthusiast who spent around 1500 hours developing the remake. Nevertheless, it was delated to the copyright complaint. The mode is available now but under another title.
