Final Fantasy 14 Won't Feature NFT, But Will Be Available For Free

According to the latest news, there will be no NFTs in Final Fantasy 14. Moreover, players will be able to try to play the title for free.

After the loud announcement by Square Enix, president Yosuke Matsuda stated that they could add NFTs to their games. After that, players became pretty worried. Probably the most worried were Final Fantasy XIV fans as there could be many NFT goodies such as NFT cards, models, items, and so on, which the development team has enough imagination for, and they definitely have it well developed. Fortunately, Yoshida reassured all users who were expecting a horrible update. NFT will definitely not be added to the game, at least according to Yoshida, this is exactly the case. He announced this during his live stream.

Moreover, Yoshida announced that the trial period for Final Fantasy XIV is returning on February 22nd. Recently, this function was disabled, because there were problems with the servers. Nevertheless, now everything is resolved. With this feature, a player can try the game for free, and make the final decision to buy the title.

Let’s recall that on February 23, Blizzard has scheduled the release of the final update to World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. And we should expect that some players who are disappointed with the development of the game will prefer to go to the world of FFXIV.

Final Fantasy 14 has become Square Enix's highest-grossing RPG with over 24 million players. Yosuke Matsuda shared the company's plans for development in 2022. In a New Year's address to the studio's employees, he noted the growing popularity of games containing blockchain technologies and non-fungible tokens. After that, the value of Square Enix shares increased by 8%. For the company, this is the largest one-day price increase in the last six months.

The development team showed improvements in the graphics that will come to us with the release of version 7.0. The characters will be made clearer and more detailed. Hair, skin, equipment will become better. New high-quality textures are used for environments and dungeons. So far, the update is in development, but its release will take place very soon.

In 2022, Square Enix plans to pay more attention to the introduction of NFT technologies, the creation of games based on the blockchain, as well as the introduction of its own cryptocurrency. However, developers will adjust the strategy, listening to the opinion of the community.
