The Living Lands of Avowed are a tapestry woven with beauty and brutality. To survive, you'll need more than just sharp steel and potent spells—you'll need allies. Fortunately, a diverse band of companions awaits, each ready to offer their unique skills and perspectives to your cause. Choose wisely, for the companions you select will not only shape your journey but define your legend. Remember, while only two can accompany you at a time, any of them can be swapped in at an Avowed Party Camp (which also act as fast travel points). These companions grow stronger alongside you, their skills evolving and expanding as your adventure unfolds.

Kai: The Unflinching Bulwark

Need someone to draw the ire of snarling Xaurips and hulking beasts? Kai, the stoic and steadfast tank, is your man. He joins you early in Dawnshore during the "Message From Afar" quest, standing as an unbreakable shield against the dangers ahead. With a roar and a blast from his trusty blunderbuss ("Fire and Ire"), he'll taunt enemies, forcing them to focus their attacks on him. When the blows rain down, "Unbending Defense" provides a surge of resilience, restoring his health and hardening him against further punishment. Should he fall, his indomitable spirit manifests in "Second Wind," granting him a second chance to fight. Kai’s “Leap of Daring” lets him close the gap instantly, stunning and taunting groups of enemies. He even has a practical side, able to burn away pesky vines and webs with a flick of his wrist.

Marius: The Whispering Death

Prefer a more subtle approach? Marius, the enigmatic ranger, deals death from the shadows. Found in Dawnshore during "An Untimely End," he’s a master of ranged combat and debilitating tactics. With "Binding Roots," he ensnares his foes, leaving them vulnerable to your attacks. "Heart Seeker," his signature arrow strike, never misses its mark, piercing armor and flesh with unnerving accuracy. "Shadow Step" transforms him into a phantom, teleporting him behind enemy lines for a flurry of deadly dagger strikes. Each of his arrows carries the insidious whisper of "Wounding Shots," a passive ability that inflicts a lingering Bleed effect. Marius also possesses the ever-useful "Hunter’s Sense," passively highlighting nearby enemies and valuable loot.

Joining you after "The Animancy Method" in Emerald Stair, her presence is a boon to any party. "Purification" washes over her allies, mending their wounds and restoring their vitality. "Barrier" shields them from harm, granting a precious buffer against incoming attacks. "Acceleration" empowers the entire party, increasing both movement and attack speed. Even her basic attacks, imbued with the gentle touch of "Reconstruction," offer a constant trickle of healing. Giatta’s command ability channels shock magic, allowing her to interact with switches and mechanisms.

Yatzli: The Embodiment of Chaos

For those who crave raw power, Yatzli, the volatile mage, is a force of nature. Encountered in Emerald Stair and joining during "Face Your Fears" in Shatterscarp, she wields magic with reckless abandon. "Essence Explosion" unleashes a devastating blast of pure arcane energy, obliterating anything in its path. "Minoletta's Missile Battery" conjures a swarm of homing projectiles, raining magical destruction from above. While fragile, Yatzli can control the flow of battle with “Arduous Delay of Motion,” slowing a single enemy. Her passive, “Blast,” adds miniature explosions to her basic attacks.
